Welcome to Go Green,
Physical Plant Division Sustainability Initiative

From GreenGov Challenge at the http://whitehouse.gov/GreenGov
On Monday, October 5th, 2009, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order on Federal Sustainability – and in doing so, committed the Federal government to lead by example, practice what we preach and help build a clean energy economy through how we operate.
To harness the collective wisdom of the more than 1.8 million civilian employees and our men and women in uniform, we’re launching the GreenGov Challenge, an online participatory way for Federal employees to suggest clean energy ideas and vote on others.
Some of the top ideas will be presented to the Steering Committee on Federal Sustainability – a group comprised of a senior official from each agency who is responsible for delivering among other things, each agency’s sustainability plan.
Though anyone can see your ideas, only Federal employees can participate – so this is your chance to positively impact how your agency will meet its 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target.
Be part of the GreenGov Challenge and help green our government!
The GreenGov challenge runs from Oct. 19th — 31st

The UGA community is seeking cooperation to manage game day trash.
"If you bring it in, please take it out." That’s the mantra the University of Georgia is asking its football fans to adopt in an effort to control the amount of trash littering campus on a football Saturday. And if they can’t take it out, at least bag it and place it in a trash receptacle or dumpster.
Along with the Game Day recycling program headed by the students of the UGA Ecology Club, sponsored by Physical Plant, The University plans to distribute 12,000 trash bags in parking lots and around campus this Saturday before the Georgia Bulldogs play host to the Arizona State Sun Devils in a 7 p.m. kickoff. Volunteers from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will walk through tailgating areas distributing trash bags and encouraging tailgaters to bag their trash and deposit it in an appropriate receptacle.

UGA Physical Plant is hosting its first annual ISSA CIMS Certification Expert (I.C.E.) Workshop on November 10!

• Identify ways to reduce custodial operation costs
• Design more efficient business processes to manage overall operations, materials, and supply inventories
• Analyze labor and production to better meet restrictive budgetary constraints
• Participants in the workshop will receive I.C.E. certification through ISSA
